[News] Part Of The Weekend Never Dies

SOULWAX's documentary film“Part of the Weekend Never Dies”has already been up now and they will tour to celebrate the launch of the new clubbing movie within the UK.

Director Saam Farahmand filmed Soulwax on their recent international dates, capturing all the excitement, chaos and humour of the world tour . Where the Beastie Boys filmed one gig with 50 cameras, Soulwax filmed 120 shows with one camera in Europe, Japan, US, Latin America and Australia. This resulted in 2 films; a live music film and a documentary which includes 2manydj's, Soulwax Nite Versions and features James Murphy, Nancy Whang, Erol Alkan, Tiga, Justice, Busy P, So-Me, Peaches, Kitsuné, Klaxons and many more in behind the scenes footage, interviews and LOTS of music.

To follow the premiere showing of the film in London, Radio Soulwax will be touring venues across Europe for five weeks from April 24 and these dates will include a limited chance for some fans to come to a preview of the film in each city where there is a show. Info about the line up for these dates and a chance to get the double film and event tickets will appear first on our site so keep an eye on the news and tour sections in the next week (Soulwax website)

Soulwaxのドキュメンタリーフィルム「Part Of The Weekend Never Dies」がこのほど完成し、イギリス各所でプレミアム試写会＆ラウンチツアーを行うそうです。

オフィシャルサイトによると、監督Saam Farahmandがsoulwax/2many dj'sのワールドツアーに同行、混沌・興奮するパーティの様子がたっぷりとおさめられているようです。ビースティーズが先日、観客５０人にカメラを渡し、観客視点で描いたドキュメンタリーフィルムを公開しましたが、こちらは、日本を含むEU、US、オーストラリア公演等、１２０カ所のライブを１つのカメラで撮り上げた渾身の作品。映画には、2manydj'sをはじめ Soulwax Nite Versions and features James Murphy, Nancy Whang, Erol Alkan, Tiga, Justice, Busy P, So-Me, Peaches, Kitsuné, Klaxons等のライブシーン、舞台裏やインタビューも含まれている様子。

日本国内でも近日中に公開されることになると思います。

Denon, professional DJ equipment manufacturer, has held a unprecedented Mash-Up contest. According to the official website, "aspiring DJs have a chance to be heard and win gear & prizes in the Denon DJ "Mix & Mash Challenge" Contest. One Grand Prize Winner and five Runner-Ups will be chosen by voters and a Blue Ribbon panel of judges".
Unfortunately, participants must be 18 years or older, a legal US resident. What's a obstinate rule. Anyway, if you are over 18 American, it worths taking part in the competition. If you are not American, you might be able to vote participants's works they made.



ＤＪ用機材でもお馴染みのオーディオメーカー「Denon」が、前代未聞のマッシュアップ・コンテストを開催しています。ホームページを見る限りは、ハウス・ヒップホップ・ロックのジャンルの中から楽曲をダウンロード。その後、マッシュアップを制作後にウェブサイトへ投稿、視聴者の投票によって勝者が決められ、入賞者には豪華な賞品が送られるようです。
ただ残念なことに、このコンテストの参加資格に１８歳以上のアメリカ合衆国在住者というとんでもない縛りがあるため、このブログを見ているたいていの方は参加できないようです。ただ、投票はできるようなので、是非一度ご覧ください。まだコンテスト自体が始まったばかりで、認知が低いようで、現段階ではあまり作品が集まっていないようです。

Firstly, as I said before, the first fully legal mash-up album "MASHED" is released this coming Monday Feb 12th. It contains 14 tracks, eight of which are GHP tracks and two by French producers-DJ's, Loo & Placido.

カリフォルニアのブートレガーの1人、
DJ !(The Silence Xperiment)がとんでも無い代物を発明。
人気の次世代ゲーム、任天堂のWiiのリモコンを使って
DJをするという前代未聞のプロジェクト。
その名も、「Wii」＋「DJing」で、Wiijing。

必要なものは以下の通り。
・パソコン（bluetooth機能付き）
・DJソフト「Traktor 3」（Ableton Liveでも可能）
・Wiiのリモコン×２


簡単に仕組みを説明しますと、Wiiリモコンを
TraktorのMIDIコントローラーとして活用するというもの。

I'm been a long time.
I was busy getting ready for my journey recently,
because I'm going to London & Sheffield and study there for approximately a year. I'm leaving for Tokyo tomorrow morning.

"Take The Lead" Remix Challenge

Follow-up report of the new Antonio Banderas movie "Take The Lead" arrived in.
It is a video remix challenge that was announced by a world-famous "The Bootie Blog(from bootlegger daft monkey)".

The promotional team spreading the word about the new movie Take The Lead were very inspiring in their generosity in making a large amount of source material for the film available to this site.

So, I am happy to provide you with the second remix challenge from the site -- this time a video remix challenge (mostly) of Take The Lead.

Take The Lead is the new Antonio Banderas movie, a true story about a dance class that invents a new style of dance. It is also the film that features the McSleazy mash-up on the movie's soundtrack.

ブログをリニューアルしました。
今風のiPodデザインを流用し、フォーマット自体にも手を加えました。
に加えて、本日から日本語と英語のバイリンガル仕様にします！

最近では欧米からのアクセスも増えているし、
そもそもマッシュアップ自体が、ワールドワイドなものであるし。
今までは、グーグルの英語翻訳機能のために、バカ丁寧な日本語でばかり
ブログを書き進めてきたけど、今日から自由な日本語で書きます。

英語の方はまだまだお粗末で間違えだらけかもしれないけど、
自分自身の英語の勉強にもなるから続けます。

今年度ブレイク必須の日本人アーティスト"Tigarah"の Remix & Mashup を
募集していると以前に告知しましたが、あれから１か月ほどで本人のWEBサイトには
既に約30曲もの Remix & Mashup が公開されています。

DJとして、今回の試みには参加したいと考えておりましたが、
既にもうこんなにたくさんの作品ができているなんて、本当に驚きです。
個人的には、バリバリのロックミックスと、エレクトロMASH-UPをつくろうと思っています。
でも、Tigarahのボーカルにトラックつけるのって、なかなか難しいんですよね。

Kula Shaker Are BACK!!!

なんとも嬉しいニュースです。

Kula Shaker 7年ぶりに復活!!

21世紀を目前に突然の解散表明、惜しまれながらもバンドは消失し、
カリスマ的人気だったボーカルの Crispian Mills は、"The Jeevas"を結成。
しかし、昨年末に、現在オアシスのキーボードを担当する Jay を除く、
メンバー３人は、イギリスのとあるパブでギグを実施。
これが功を奏したのかわかりませんが、再結成は嬉しすぎます。


今後は、新しいオフィシャルページに、ぞくぞくと情報がアップされる模様。
目が離せません！
ちなみに、この記事にあわせて、Kula Shaker の Mash-Up を探しましたが、
何故かどこにも見つかりませんでした。海外だと人気が低いのでしょうか。。。

実は裏で大変なことがおきていることが発覚しました。
先週はじめに紹介した Green Day の"American Idiot"をまるごと Mash-Upした
Dean Gray の "American Edit"。
この Mash-Up アルバムがWEB上にアップされた後、
Green Day の所属するワーナー・レコードから警告を受けて、
WEBサイトが閉鎖に追い込まれました。
このことは、世界中の Mash-Up ファンの反感を買い、
以下のサイトが急遽立ち上がりました。

About Dean Gray Tuesday
Only 10 days after its release, the mash-up album American Edit, which pays tribute to the acclaimed Green Day album American Idiot through some of the best mash-up productions of 2005, was shut down reportedly after received a cease & desist order from Green Day's label, Warner records, despite the fact that it was released as an internet only release with no commercial gain for the team of mash-up artists involved. In fact, the only possible profit to be made from the release was a plea from the creators of the album (known only by the shared alias Dean Gray) for fans who enjoyed the creation to donate to one of three possible charities that Green Day have been known to support. Furthermore, the mash-up versions were such fantastic productions that they were truly a departure from the standard Green Day performances and would not compete for consumptive dollars.
We hope to mobilize the online Mash-Up community by organizing a simple one-day organized event. Participants would be asked to post the American Edit album online for 24 hours only starting on Tuesday, December 13, at 12:00AM. Doing so is not intended to be a mass organization of music piracy but, rather, one single display of the consumptive power of the mash-up and home remix community in the hopes of encouraging the labels, publishers and artists who are curious about the mash-up community to consider giving the high quality productions of "illegitimate" music a legitimate consideration as a promotional avenue for all music.
We also hope to encourage club DJs and radio DJs to air portions of the American Edit release on "Gray" Tuesday and refer to this site by reporting their planned airplay in advance.
If you can commit to hosting American Edit for approximately 24 hours on your Web site on December 13 or can commit to giving American Edit airplay on "Gray" Tuesday, please complete the form below. How It Will Work
At 12:00AM Pacific Time (GMT -8) on Dean Gray Tuesday (Dec 13 2005), this page will be replaced by a list of sites that will be providing the American Edit album for download in protest to its banning, reportedly by Warner records. In order to prevent server overloads, this page will randomly display only a sub-set of the full list of sites participating in "Dean Gray Tuesday". Each visitor will be shown a different sub-set list of possible sources. By following the links, they will visit the participating site and be able to download American Edit. On 11:59PM that night, this page will cease to function as a "portal" to American Edit sources.

つたない翻訳で意味がわからない人も多いかと思いますが。。。

とにかくいま、Mash-Up を愛するもの達が、一丸となって、
ワーナー・ミュージックの警告へ意義を唱えいています。
これは、去年の3月に起きた"GREY TUESDAY*"の第二弾と言えるでしょう。

*Mash-Up クリエイター"Danger Mouse"の"The Grey Album"(The Beatlesの"The White Album"と、Jay-Zの"The Black Album"のMash-Upで、"The Grey Album"と命名された）が、去年の３月に、EMIによって出荷停止命令を出された。このアルバムを巡り、"Grey Tuesday"と題された日に、今回の件と同じように参加者のサイト上や、様々なファイルシェアリングの手段で無差別に公開された。アメリカでは、音楽メディアはもちろんNew York Timesなどのメジャー紙も巻き込んで論争となった。


デジタルコンテンツの進化/深化によって、
サンプリング、著作権、改変権というところを
今もう一度見直す時期になってきているのではないでしょうか？
Mash-Up がただの海賊版ではなく、１つの芸術作品として認められるか否かの
いま、まさに過渡期がきているのではないかと思います。

Mac mini

ついに買いました、Apple Mac mini[M9687J/B]。
忙しすぎて箱からすら出していないのですが、かなり小さいです。

思えば、Macを使い始めて0.1世紀。
LC630→初代iBook→Mac miniと三代目です。
５年に１台しか買っていない自分は、どうなんだろうか・・・。

このMac miniのGarage Bandで、自作のmashupを作ります。
近日アップ予定!!　まだ、箱からも出してないけど・・・。

ロック魂の音楽を中心に朝までハイテンションでスピンし続けるこのイベント。
人気急上昇中のレゲエバンド、タフセッションのお店「渋谷ROOTS」にて開催します。

『町田ROOTS』がOPENした時から常にROOTSの中心に君臨しつづけて来た男であり、
東京ロンドン化計画のメイン人物でもある、超リスペクトDJ Qさんが主催するこのEVENT。
当日は、このQさんと"元ロスランチェロスのOSADAさんが結成する『MM28』の
マッシュアップなDJライブあります!!　フロア爆死間違いなし。

そのほか、JET SETレコード下北沢店のカリスマ店員であり、
MINORS HOLIDAY CAFE@otoで大物DJと肩を並べてプレイする下川耕平さん、
Disk Union下北沢店のビックビート＆お洒落レコードコーナー担当の『滝田真由美』さん、
roots専属のアゲアゲDJ ONORIさんが出演。
