[News] Radio Soulwax iPhone App

2 Many DJ'sによるインターネットラジオ"Radio Soulwax"が開始するというアナウンスがあって早くも１年半以上経ちますが、ついにというかようやく動き始めたようです。

WEBサイトの方はまだComing Soonになっていますが、AppleのApp Storeから専用アプリがダウンロードできます。下記アイコンをクリックすれば、ダウンロードページに飛べます。iPhoneとiPadに対応しているようです。






アプリを立ち上げると、下記のような画面が立ちあがります。色々とジャケットのようなものが並んでいますが、現在「on Air Now」となっているのは以前このブログでも紹介した"Introversy"だけです。




ラジオを聴くにはStreamかDownloadの２つの方法があります。Downloadだと非常にファイルが重いので、Streamで聴いた方が良いかもしれません。このアプリの最大のポイントは、ジャケットが動くアニメーションを採用していることです。2 Many DJ'sの最近のDJ setでは既にお馴染みになっていますが、矢継ぎ早に変わるintroに合わせて、ジャケットも動きながらどんどん変わっていきます。見ているだけでも楽しめます。





今後はドンドン視聴できる番組が増えていくようなので、楽しみです。iPhone/iPadを持っている方で2 Many DJ'sファンの方には必見のアプリです。

The Young Punx, is familiar with the mash-up scene, has released the second album called "Mashpop and Punkstep".

According to the official website,

メジャーデビュー後も精力的にマッシュアップやブートレグを制作しているThe Young Punx。そんな彼らのセカンドアルバムが発売中です。
オフィシャルサイトによると、「次世代型マッシュアップのマニュフェスト」らしいです。タイトル“Mashpop and Punkstep”からもわかるように、ポップからパンクまでを、マッシュアップ的な感じで仕上げてくているのがよくわかります。過去に浜崎あゆみのリミックスをこなしたことがある彼らですが、今回の収録曲の「SugarCandySuperNova」は、カプセルを彷彿とさせるJ-POP的なエレクトロディスコになっていますね。また、ボーナスディスクとして、Riva StarrやShir Khan、Shinichi Osawa等のリミックスも収録しています。
かなりオススメです。

[News] E20 Remix Competition

East Enders, one of the most famous soap opera in the UK broadcasted by BBC since 1985, has been looking for a new talent who can remix its classic theme song.

This is an official competition hosted by BBC and the winning
remix will the theme tune for EastEnders: E20, a 13-part Internet spin-off from British soap opera EastEnders scheduled to start in January 2010 as part of the show's 25th anniversary celebrations.

Here there are more information and downloadable theme tune samples on the official site.

I guess the winner could be a conservative tune but it's worth challenging if you have time.



イギリスを代表する長寿ドラマ「EastEnders」が、来年スタートする予定の新シリーズのために、定番となっているテーマ曲のリミックスを募集しています。

Labelled as 'Soulwax / David Dewaele Remix' it is in fact the Soulwax edit BUT it's the low quality live version from Blowpop in Swindon.
Besides the low quality, it also contains a BBC Radio One jingle, so you can't play this record out.

というわけで、これまでも2Many DJs/Soulwax周りでブート版は数多くありましたが（そもそも自分らもブートからスタートしていますが）、今回の１２インチはかなりひどいので、掲載しておきました。
日本のレコ屋でも既に数軒で売られていますが、自己判断と自己責任でお願いします。

Who the fuck are Too Much DJs?
Are they a dj unit like 2 Many DJs? Are they a group of music producers/remixers? Or are they porky guys who love junk food?
Yes, all of them are true.
They are a unit of three DJs, play together at the DJ booth and spin any kind of music which is not only Dance Music but also Jazz, Japanese Pop, even Classic (check the following preview mix). I mean that they mix wider range of music than 2 Many DJs and more focus on Pop-Dance Music . They will do actively near future, so follow them on their myspace.




クラブの常識を「Too Much DJs」が覆す？

Too Much DJsは、都内で活躍するDJ3人によるユニット。これまで、２人組DJは数多くいれども、三人組DJはおそらく初？　そして、バックグラウンドが異なる３人からなるToo Much DJsは、その違いを生かしながら、かなり多彩な音楽をミックス。さらに、３人ならではの、１人DJ、２人組DJには出来なかったスピードプレイ、音がより一層厚いプレイも可能に。
要するに、2 Many DJsよりも音楽の幅が広く、多彩なミックスを実現するのが、Too Much DJsだそうです。J-POPからClassicまで、とにかく皆が知っている曲をカッコ良くミックスして、フロアを揺らすことが目標とのこと（一部のライブ音源が聴けます）。

DJ Hero is a music video game developed by FreeStyleGames released in October.
Wikipedia said that

DJ Hero will primarily simulate Turntablism, and will feature score attack gameplay similar to the Guitar Hero games. The controller will consist of a wireless deck consisting of a movable Turntable that supports 3 "stream" buttons, an effects dial, a crossfader, and a "Euphoria" button; a hidden panel will contain additional controller buttons to interact with the gaming console outside of the game.

日本では発売未定のゲーム「DJ Hero」は、アメリカで一世を風靡したGuitar HeroというゲームのDJ版です。専用のターンテーブルとミキサーがコントローラーになり、さまざまな曲をミックスして、オーディエンスを躍らせるというゲーム。デモを見る限りでは、ミックスというよりもマッシュアップに近い感じです。

このゲームのすごいところは、100曲以上のトラックを使用しており、それをゲームではうまくミックスしていくのを競うのですが、そのオリジナルのミックスには、DJ ShadowやGrandmaster Flash、DJ Yoda、そしてダフトパンクまで参加するとか（Tiestoにもオファーを出したが断られたようです）。

[News] The Mash Up Mix 2009

As well as last year, Ministry of Sound has released a Mash-up Mix CD called "The Mash Up Mix" series. It's mixed by The Cut Up Boys just as last year, but I feel this Mix CD series are getting worse year by year. This year, "The Mash Up Mix 2009", is almost worthless, just only A+B mashups, no creative ideas...
I think the first one is better. MoS should stop releasing.


例年恒例となってきたMinistry of SoundのMash-UpミックスCD「The Mash Up Mix」シリーズがリリースされました。　今年も、前年同様にThe Cut Up Boysによるミックスですが、このシリーズは年を重ねるごとにひどくなっている気がします。特に今年は、全体的にA+Bのシンプルなマッシュアップが中心で、なんらおもしろいアイディアもない状態で。。
初期のものの方が面白かったですね。このシリーズの限界を感じます。

[News] Part Of The Weekend Never Dies

SOULWAX's documentary film“Part of the Weekend Never Dies”has already been up now and they will tour to celebrate the launch of the new clubbing movie within the UK.

Director Saam Farahmand filmed Soulwax on their recent international dates, capturing all the excitement, chaos and humour of the world tour . Where the Beastie Boys filmed one gig with 50 cameras, Soulwax filmed 120 shows with one camera in Europe, Japan, US, Latin America and Australia. This resulted in 2 films; a live music film and a documentary which includes 2manydj's, Soulwax Nite Versions and features James Murphy, Nancy Whang, Erol Alkan, Tiga, Justice, Busy P, So-Me, Peaches, Kitsuné, Klaxons and many more in behind the scenes footage, interviews and LOTS of music.

To follow the premiere showing of the film in London, Radio Soulwax will be touring venues across Europe for five weeks from April 24 and these dates will include a limited chance for some fans to come to a preview of the film in each city where there is a show. Info about the line up for these dates and a chance to get the double film and event tickets will appear first on our site so keep an eye on the news and tour sections in the next week (Soulwax website)

Soulwaxのドキュメンタリーフィルム「Part Of The Weekend Never Dies」がこのほど完成し、イギリス各所でプレミアム試写会＆ラウンチツアーを行うそうです。

オフィシャルサイトによると、監督Saam Farahmandがsoulwax/2many dj'sのワールドツアーに同行、混沌・興奮するパーティの様子がたっぷりとおさめられているようです。ビースティーズが先日、観客５０人にカメラを渡し、観客視点で描いたドキュメンタリーフィルムを公開しましたが、こちらは、日本を含むEU、US、オーストラリア公演等、１２０カ所のライブを１つのカメラで撮り上げた渾身の作品。映画には、2manydj'sをはじめ Soulwax Nite Versions and features James Murphy, Nancy Whang, Erol Alkan, Tiga, Justice, Busy P, So-Me, Peaches, Kitsuné, Klaxons等のライブシーン、舞台裏やインタビューも含まれている様子。

日本国内でも近日中に公開されることになると思います。

It seems to be complicated system and might be quite difficult to understand how to use. The price is €520(without tax) and it will start shipping in February.

Denon, professional DJ equipment manufacturer, has held a unprecedented Mash-Up contest. According to the official website, "aspiring DJs have a chance to be heard and win gear & prizes in the Denon DJ "Mix & Mash Challenge" Contest. One Grand Prize Winner and five Runner-Ups will be chosen by voters and a Blue Ribbon panel of judges".
Unfortunately, participants must be 18 years or older, a legal US resident. What's a obstinate rule. Anyway, if you are over 18 American, it worths taking part in the competition. If you are not American, you might be able to vote participants's works they made.

Firstly, as I said before, the first fully legal mash-up album "MASHED" is released this coming Monday Feb 12th. It contains 14 tracks, eight of which are GHP tracks and two by French producers-DJ's, Loo & Placido.

DJ !, one of the US bootleggers, also named The Silence Xperiment, has launched a surprising project "Wii by Nintendo" + "DJing" = "Wiijing".

カリフォルニアのブートレガーの1人、
DJ !(The Silence Xperiment)がとんでも無い代物を発明。
人気の次世代ゲーム、任天堂のWiiのリモコンを使って
DJをするという前代未聞のプロジェクト。
その名も、「Wii」＋「DJing」で、Wiijing。

必要なものは以下の通り。
・パソコン（bluetooth機能付き）
・DJソフト「Traktor 3」（Ableton Liveでも可能）
・Wiiのリモコン×２


簡単に仕組みを説明しますと、Wiiリモコンを
TraktorのMIDIコントローラーとして活用するというもの。

iGot 1st Anniversary. & To England

I'm been a long time.
I was busy getting ready for my journey recently,
because I'm going to London & Sheffield and study there for approximately a year. I'm leaving for Tokyo tomorrow morning.

So I might not be able to post new stuff on this blog frequently until I 've settled to live in the UK. If you live there, please give me any information, such as your favorite parties or recordshops.

Anyway this blog celebrated an anniversary last week.
