This is 2 Many DJ's interview and live mix on XFM, UK's radiostation. There are a 10-minutes interview and a one-hour DJ set. The live is almost same as last Sunday's one but what I am very concerned about is that there is a great speed mix/edit like the "As Heard as Radio Soulwax" at the first part of the set. Also, the interview is quite interested.


先日に続き、 2 Many DJ'sの音源が見つかったので掲載します。
これは、イギリスのXFMを録音したもので、前半10分はインタビュー、後半1時間がライブ音源となっています。
インタビューでは、同ラジオに約８年ぶりに出演した二人が、この８年間のハイライトを語ったり、フジロックでの思い出や、Soulwaxと2 Many DJ'sのモチベーションの違い、Any Minite Now とNite Versionの売上の違いなど、なかなか興味深いインタビューになっています。
ライブミックスは、先日のSoulwaxのライブ＋DJプレイを足して２で割ったような内容。前半部分は、往年のAs Heard as Radio Soulwaxのような矢継ぎ早のリミックス/エディットが収録されています。

What an awesome dream match!
This is a mix of Ed Banger Crew (Pedro Winter, Medhi, So-Me, Xavier (Justice) and David Dewaele (2 Many Dj's) at Cinespace, LA, on 1st May 2007. In fact, the mix they did is not so good, but there are ace selections of music, such as the first song "Where is my mind" by Pixies. I've got the tracklist of this session but don't know about some of them.

[DJ Mix] Post Punk Dub Funk Junk Spunk Dance Mixture

GHP has released a new short mix "Post Punk Dub Funk Junk Spunk Dance Mixture", which aired on the John Kennedy XFM X-Posure show on 22th Feb. This mix consists of Disco Punk, Post Punk and Dub mainly, as the title said. This one is not a Mash-Up mix, but I love it.
By the way, his new album "Mashed" entered the UK album charts at No18 and sat on top of the Amazon bestsellers compilations for a while, according him. Great well done, Mark.



GHPが「Post Punk Dub Funk Junk Spunk Dance Mixture」と題した新作のショートミックスを発表。これは、先日のXFMで放送されたミックスのようです。そのタイトル通り、Disco/Post PunkやDubを主とした、かなり今っぽいミックスです。マッシュアップではないですが、個人的にはとても好きです。
また、先週発売された公式マッシュアップ・コンピレーション「Mashed」が、UKアルバムチャートで18位に入ったとのこと。また、Amazonのコンピレーション部門では、１位にもなったそうです。

According to his website, this twenty minute mini mix is a request by Nottingham's Ambush when he played there a couple of weeks ago. It's wonderful mix and I like it, I do recommend you to download this one immediately.

数週間前にイギリス・ノッティンガムにあるAmbushというクラブでプレイした時に、店員からのリクエストで制作したらしいです。

[electraglide week] Tiga

つい、２週間ほど前に、ヨーロッパ最大級のテクノイベント "I Love Techno"が開催されました。
このイベント、出演は、Underworldをはじめとして、Miss Kittin、Derrick May、Marco Bailey、Tiga、Sven Vath、 Dave Clarke、 Vitalic などなど、まさに、electraglide の前哨戦みたいなイベントでした。
詳しくは、このサイトを見てもらえればと思いますが、HP自体もかなり凝っていて、とてもカッコイイです！

というわけで electraglide 2005 は、今夜開催されます。
今週、いろいろと出演者関連の音源を紹介してきましたが、ラストは、
上記のイベント "I Love Techno"での Tiga のDJ プレイです。

本番まで時間がありませんが、とにかく聴いてみてください。
きっと、この内容とさほど変わらないプレイが今宵も聴けることでしょうから。

[electraglide week]Vitalic

昨日に引き続き、electraglide week ２日目。
本日は、"テクノ界のニルバーナ"と形容され、
electraglide2005 の目玉アーティストの一人でもある、Vitalic です。

この音源は、今年、イギリスのワイト島で行われたミュージックフェスティバル
"BESTIVAL 2005"のライブの模様。
基本的には、アルバム"OK Cowboy"からの曲がほとんどのようです。

今年の Fuji Rock Festival でも、圧倒的なパフォーマンスを見せつけた彼らの
ライブパフォーマンスは、かなり期待大です。

[electraglide week]Carl Cox

いよいよ、今週末となりました。国内最大級の屋内レイヴイベント "electraglide 2005"
チケットをとっていないくとも、仕事で行けるかわからなくとも、期待は高まるばかりです。

去年までは、１フロア２ステージで、ライブとDJで交互に進んでいきましたが、
今年は、何と言っても２フロアでの進行。
吉と出るか凶と出るか、見物です。
あとは、Underworldの３時間ライブ。ここもどう転ぶのかが見どころですね。

というわけで、今週は electraglide2005 関連の音源をご紹介していきたいと思います。
第一弾は、先日発表された "DJ Mag Top DJ 100"でも10位にランクインし、
イベントのトリを飾る、　Carl Cox の DJ set です。
このゴリゴリのサウンドが、明け方に来たら、きっとアガることでしょう。

[MP3] Radiohead

だぶん、個人的に、一番影響を受けたと思われるロックバンド、Radiohead 。
いまの Radiohead はともかく、初期のころのアルバムは、いま聴いても新鮮です。
特に ２枚目の"The Bends"は、人生のアルバムベスト１０に必ずランクインされることでしょう。

そんな初期のRadioheadの貴重な音源を発見。
映画『007/The Spy Who Loved Me（邦題：私を愛したスパイ）』の
主題歌としても有名な、Carly simon の "Nobody Does It Better"を、
Radiohead がカバーしています。

これは、1995年のMTVのイベントで、Radiohead がカバーしたもの。
トムヨークの歌声が、狂おしいほどにセクシーです。

Scissor Sisters

2004年にUKで最も売れたという "Scissor Sisters"が、
同じく昨年に大ブレイクを果たした "Franz Ferdinand"の Take Me Out をカバー。

これは、2004年の夏に "Jo Whiley's Radio One Show" のために、
Scissor Sisters がレコーディングしたものみたいです。
Take Me Out の Remix や Mash-Up は本当にたくさんありますが、
たぶん、これが一番良いかも。
カントリー調の、どこか寂しげな雰囲気が、いまの季節にぴったりのような気がします。

Royksopp

今年、８月にオランダで開催された LOWLANDS FESTIVAL 2005 での
Royksoppのライブ音源です。
CDで聴くと、和み＆癒し系な彼らの音源も、
ライブパフォーマンスとなると、かなり激しいダンサブルなライブを披露してくれます。
Fuji Rock Festival でも、かなり熱かった!!

このライブ音源は、19分と短く、Fuji Rock Festival とほぼ同内容の全４曲の構成。
Fuji では、最後の POOR LENO でとても盛り上がりになりましたが、
この音源では、そうでもないようです。あれが、異様だったんだよな。
あんなに盛り上がるとは、本人達が一番びっくりしたんではないでしょうか？

Green Day

mash-upではなく、カバー作品です。
GREEN DAY が、クルマのCMでもお馴染みの Killer Tune 、
CLASH の "I Fought The Law" をカバーしています。

これは、昨年の Pepsi × iTunes のキャンペーンのために書き下ろされたもの。
アメリカでは上記キャンペーンのCMソングとなっていたらしいです。
知っている限りではCDは発売されていない模様。

よく考えたら、この"I Fought The Law"は、
もともとこの曲は、 Sonny Curtis という人のカントリーの曲がオリジナル。
つまり、CLASH もカバーしているんです。
で、GREEN DAY は、この CLASH がカバーした曲をカバーした、ということになります。
ややこしいですが・・・。


この GREEN DAY バージョンは、CLASH のカバーを忠実に再現しています。

The Undertones

７０年代後半から８０年代初頭に旋風を巻き起こした、
アイリッシュ・パンク／ニュー・ウェーヴの代表格、"Undertones"。
アッシュ、バステッド、サハラ・ホットナイツがカヴァーした
パンク・キッズの永遠のアンセム Teenage kicks のハウス・リミックスです。

しつこいくらいカットインされているドラムが、癖になります。
クラブ等でも使えそう。
